Strengthening Communities Through Better Health
At CHILDREN, we believe that good health is the foundation of a thriving future.

“
The Challenge We
Address
In marginalized communities, poor health outcomes are often a result of multiple barriers, including:
Malnutrition & poor maternal health, leading to stunted growth and weakened immunity in children.
Low preventive healthcare awareness, resulting in late detection of chronic illnesses like cancer
Limited access to healthcare services, especially for women and children.

Our Programs
01
Arogyam (Healthy Beginnings)
Nutrition Rehabilitation
Providing supplements, monitoring child growth, and educating caregivers on healthy diets.
Routine check-ups, vaccinations, and emergency referrals through medical partnerships.
Preventive Healthcare
Awareness sessions on hygiene, sanitation, and health-seeking behaviors.
Community Engagement
Equipping families with knowledge to sustain long-term health improvements.
Safe spaces for youth to discuss reproductive and sexual health.

60% of malnourished children showed significant improvement in nutritional health.

90% of youth adolescents gained awareness about hygiene and preventive healthcare practices.
Eye Care Initiatives Under Arogyam –
Transforming Vision for Children
CHILDREN has been actively working on eye care initiatives under the Arogyam program for several years in the Bawana and Shahbad Dairy communities. In collaboration with Param Nethralaya, we conducted vision screenings and provided spectacles to children at discounted rates until 2024.
In the past year, we partnered with Dr. Sharoff Eye Hospital, which has been instrumental in offering high-quality services at a very low cost. As part of our extended partnership, they will be training our community facilitators in basic eye screening techniques. This will enable us to reach a larger number of children more efficiently. Children identified with vision issues will be referred to Dr. Sharoff Eye Hospital for further treatment and support.
We are currently seeking funds to continue providing spectacles to children in need at subsidized rates and to support essential eye surgeries. These interventions are vital in ensuring that every child has the opportunity to see clearly, learn better, and experience the world fully.
02
Pratirodhini (Resilient Women)
Early detection saves lives. Pratirodhini, in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital, was launched to spread awareness about cancer, promote screenings, and ensure access to early detection services, particularly for breast, cervical, and oral cancer.
Educating women and families on cancer prevention.
Partnering with medical institutions to provide free cancer screenings.
Connecting patients with specialized care facilities for early intervention.

"My name is Aarti, and I grew up in Shahbad Dairy where access to healthcare was limited. Through the health programme for children, I learned about hygiene, nutrition, and the importance of regular health check-ups. I also received proper medical care for the first time, which helped me recover from illnesses I had been dealing with for a long time. The programme has not only improved my health but has also taught me how to stay healthy and take care of myself. Now, I feel stronger and more confident about my future."
